About Juan Geracaris

Juan Geracaris is a first-generation Argentine immigrant who has lived and worked in Evanston for over 29 years. As a Northwestern alumnus and father of two children who attend District 65 schools, Juan has long connections to the Evanston community.

Juan graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and currently works at the University as the senior network systems engineer in the Kellogg School of Management. He is a founding member and current vice-president of Evanston Latinos, a local non-profit organization formed to help Latino families during the COVID-19 crisis. He is an active Oakton PTA member who has served as the Oakton PTA vice president, garden chair and TWI liaison.  He also serves as a board member for Next Steps Evanston, a local non-profit focused on providing equity and anti-racism training for D65 parents and guardians.  He is also a founder of Evanston Skates, a local community group that advocates for local skateboarders and skatepark access.  

In applying to be 9th Ward council-member, Juan stated that his goals include selecting a City Manager who reflects the community’s values, making city services more accessible for Spanish-speaking families, keeping Evanston affordable for working class families, investing in a solar energy infrastructure for City buildings and utilities, and providing safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists.
